Wamakko is on his own, we remain in PDP – Sokoto party elders
A group of elders within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has distanced itself from Governor Aliyu Wamakko’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC),
In a statement late Monday, signed by 18 chieftains and read to journalists by a former Communications Minister and first PDP state Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Arzika Tambuwal, the group reaffirmed its unflinching loyalty, support and complete faith in the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan, Bamanga Tukur and the elected party officials.
“We recall that APC emerged out of the sickness and demise of APP to ANPP to CPC and finally APC,” it said.
“Similarly AD became AC, then ACN and finally merged into APC. It is obvious that PDP survived all these because of its spread, the capacity and vision to do so.
“We hereby assure all loyal PDP members in Sokoto State that we have immediately started re-organising and repositioning our party and all loyal party members should remain steadfast”, the group noted.
Others who signed the communique include Nigeria’s Envoy to Morocco, Ambassador Abdallah Wali; Minister of Transport, Alhaji Bello Suleiman; Political Adviser to Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Senator Abubakar Gada; former PDP governorship candidate, Senator Illa Gada, former BOT Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum, Senator Ladan Abdullah Shuni and former executives of the party.
