All Enugu communities to have electricity before 2015 – Governor Chime
The Enugu State Government says it would provide electricity to the few remaining communities in the state before the end of the administration in May 2015.
The State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime stated this in an address at a workshop on community administration organized for councilors, Town Union Presidents and other stakeholders in the state at the Nike Lake Resort Hotels.
Governor Chime, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House Enugu, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo restated the administration’s commitment to providing the people with the essential amenities that would help make life better for them.
ASUU strike: AAUA begins recruitment to replace striking lecturers
The academic war between Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko [AAUA] in Ondo State and its striking lecturers has deepened following a report that the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Femi Mimiko has commenced recruitment of new lecturers to replace the striking lecturers, having refused to pull out of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities’ [ASUU] strike.
ASUU strike: Protest may be suspended within 24 hours
The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Wednesday put the weight of the ongoing strike on the Federal government as it said that the university strike would be called off 24 hours after the federal government accepts the new resolutions reached with President Goodluck Jonathan on November 4.
Recall that the Union had conducted a referendum late last week, where 60 per cent of the lecturers voted for the re-opening of the shut schools.
Relatively, in a swift reaction to a statement credited to the Education Minister , Nyesom Wike, the Union said that Wike’s assertion that ASUU was making new outrageous demands was “untrue and absolute lie.”
ASUU Strike: Adekunle Ajasin University announces resumption date
Akure — Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko chapter in Ondo State have ordered students to resume their studies on Monday, despite the continuing lecturers strike.
According to Vanguard, the Registrar of the university, R. B. Olotu, in a statement gave the resumption date for students for the second semester of the 2012/2013 session as 25 November.
Reacting to the resumption date declared by the university authorities, the Academic Staff Universities Union (ASUU) Chapter of the university have told lecturers to ignore the directive.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Femi Mimiko, had earlier warned that he will recall students if the strike was not suspended.
Wande Coal and Don Jazzy are ‘cool’
Abuja – Wande Coal denies having issues with his former boss Don Jazzy and claims their relationship is “cool” and “crispy.”
In an interview with Factory 78, the 28-year-old music star said: “I’m mean there’s not problem, like I said, Don jazzy’s my brother, we’re cool. Everything is all crispy, man.”
He added he is planning on working with Don Jazzy in the future.
He added: “Hopefully, if I see Don Jazzy, I’ll go and hug him. We’re still going to work together.”
Wande Coal left Mavin Records a few months ago to kick start his own label — Black Diamond Entertainment.
His departure was followed by his former label boss accusing him of intellectual property theft.
ASUU strike: Again, government appeals to Union to end strike
After having waited endlessly for the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to end its ongoing strike over the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement it entered with the government, the Federal Government on Saturday, again, appealed to the protesting lecturers to call off its over four months strike, for the interest of the nation.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, made the appeal on behalf of the government at the Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu. The appeal came while she was speaking with journalists after she was been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Accounting by the University.
2015: We will oust APC from Lagos – PDP vows
As preparations are underway towards 2015 governorship election in Lagos state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has vowed to reclaim the state from the incumbent All Progressive Congress, APC.
PDP made this known at a seminar organised by the Alimosho Local Government chapter of the PDP with the theme: “Demystifying the power of incumbency”
Members of the party said they had all it takes to oust the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, but had unfortunately suffered electoral setbacks due to disunity amongst them.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of PDP in Lagos, Capt. Tunji Shelle, said the PDP was a party to beat in the 2015 governorship election.
He said, “PDP has been in Lagos since 1998, but we have not won the state. We are here to find the cause of the problem. We need to be focused and work together as a team. I believe APC is surmountable.”

NET reports that their correspondent caught the middle aged man complaining to a member of his family saying ‘The groom’s family have over taken everything and it is not supposed to be so‘.
His anger was further expressed as he went round asking some of the guests from the grooms side to move from their tables and to look for seats elsewhere, NET further reports.
